Tovoarijaona Solo Anja

I am 29 years old with 2 children of 1 and 3 years of age. I am married and I studied up until 12th grade. Right now I work at the local pharmacy, but I would like to use this loan to open my own shop to sell rice and other grains. My dream is to be able to grow this business so that I can someday be a wholesaler of grains for the area.

"Hello my name is Lys Fiderana. I am 20 years old and I am still single with no children. I just finished my studies and now I am looking for something to do to earn my living. I would like to use this loan to being a small bar which could provide soft drinks and other beverages to people. My dream is to have a business of my own so that I will no longer be dependent on my parents and I will be able to succeed on my own.”

Update One

Hello from Lys Fierana. In my family, we generally have three meals a day. For example, yesterday we had rice with greens for breakfast, and also a cup of coffee. For lunch, we also had rice with greens in a tomato sauce and for dinner we had still more rice with a sauce of little peas. I am the one who does the shopping and prepares the food. My family's favorite food is rice with bean sauce.

Update Two

Hi! It's Lys.  The disease that my family most often has is the flu. The climate is different here because of the destruction of the environment and the environment holds a big role in the changing of the climate. I like the summer because we can do lots of different jobs but when there is bad weather like this we are limited by what we can do. It is hot and it rains a lot here right now.  As I said in the beginning, this has a large consequence in my business because we can't work all day because of the rain, so my business suffers and I make little profit.

Update Three

Hello!  It's me, Fiderana.  This is what my day is like:  I get up at 5:00 a.m. to make breakfast for the family.  Afterwards I clean up the courtyard and then when everyone has gone, I do the housework.  In fact, it is me who does all the household chores.  I am the one who cooks, cleans, does the laundry and  ironing, so my day is filled up with all these chores.  On Sundays, I go to church in the morning and then in the afternoon I  do some sport with my friends if there is not a meeting.

Update One

Hello from Christophine. In my family we eat rice two times a day, at lunch and in the evening. For breakfast, we always have coffee with bread or little cakes. Yesterday, for breakfast we had coffee with bread. For lunch, we had rice with a bean sauce and, for dinner, we had rice with a vegetable sauce. I am always the one who does the food shopping and prepares the meals. My family's favorite food is rice with fish sauce.

UpdatesTwo

Hello! It's me, Christophine. The illness that my family has often is the toothache and that is not surprising because almost everyone here has cavities. I think that the climate here is different than other places because Ambalavao is surrounded by mountains and this has a big effect on it's climate. I like the winter because it's the season of the harvest and there is a lot of food.  Most important, people have food and we can make a lot of business different. At the moment, the business is going pretty bad but nevertheless we are getting a bit of business so we can't complain.

Update Three

Hi! It’s me Christophine; I get up at 5 a.m. to go fetch water and after I make breakfast, we eat and after I get the children ready for school and I take them to school and I go back to clean and after all these chores I leave to sell lamba at the market with my mother and we stay all day we even eat lunch at the market.

Update One

"Angeline: I live in an apartment with three rooms, one that I use as a living room, one is a bedroom and the last one is the kitchen. There are brick walls, cement floors and a roof covered with aluminum sheets. I live with my family and we have electricity and water in the house."

Update Two

Hello from Angeline. In my family we eat rice three times a day and I am the one who always cooks the food. My mother is the one who shops for it. For example, yesterday for breakfast we had rice with leafy greens. For lunch, we had rice with a vegetable sauce and for dinner we had rice with an omelet. My family's favorite food is rice with the meat of zebu (beef) and greens.

Update Three

Hello! It's Angeline! The illness that my family sometimes has is fever. I think that Ambalavao has a different climate than the other regions because it is surrounded by mountains and also there are brush fires that burn the forests. The season that I love the most is winter because there is the harvest and business does very well. Also, food is abundant and less expensive.  It's the rainy season here at the moment and it's hot and that's not good for business because there are not a lot of clients because it's the period of the harvest and the villagers don't come to town to buy.

Update Four

Hi! It’s me Angeline; I always get up at 5 a.m. to go fetch water; after this I take a shower and I do the cleaning and it’s the children who prepare the breakfast, we eat at 7 a.m. everyone leave and I give my sewing lesson that starys at 8 a.m. until 12 a.m. and 2 to 5 p.m. the afternoon; I come how and I prepare dinner we eat at 7 p.m. and we go to bed at around 9:30 p.m. because we watch a bit of TV. • 9 Years of Schooling

Update One

Hello from Ernestine. In my family, we have three meals a day.  At each meal there is always rice and a cup of coffee. For example, yesterday, I was the one who did the food shopping and prepared the meals, like I always do. For breakfast, we had soupy rice with chopped vegetables and, for lunch, we had rice with pea sauce and mangoes for dessert. For dinner, we had plain rice. My family's favorite food is rice with pork and sauce.

Update Two

Hello, it's me, Ernestine. In my family, it is the children who are most often sick, often with either diarrhea or the flu. The climate of Ambalavo is different than other places because we are in a basin surrounded by mountains. The season that I like best is summer because it is not too hot and my business does very well. At the moment it is hot and it rains a lot.  This has a bad effect on my business because I cannot sell for the entire day.

Update Three

Hello! It's Ernestine; I get up everyday at 4 AM to fetch water, then I make breakfast and clean up, when we're done eating breakfast I prepare my children to go to school, when they are gone, I go out to sell furniture on the side of the road because my husband makes furniture and I stay there until 11 AM and I go home to prepare lunch but right after lunch I go back to selling; we dine at 7 PM and go to bed early as well. On sundays we go to church in the morning and in the afternoon we go to the meetings or visit our parents.

Update Four

Hello, it's me, Raeliarijaona Ernestine.  I have three children who go to school.  They are still in primary school.  I have been saving money for their return to school and I think that I have enough to pay their school entry fees and to buy their school supplies even though the cost of schooling and supplies has increased this year.  I find that each year, the costs become more andmore expensive and this can be difficult for parents because sometimes they must spend more than they expected.  So we must sacrifice other things to cover these expenses, but it is worth it because it is for their future.

Update Five

Hello!  It's me, Rasoanireny.  My business continues to do well although sales have decreased a little because the planting season has begun and the people spend more money on food.  During the vacation, my children are going to visit my mother and they will stay there until school starts.  On Independence Day, we went to the stadium to watch the parade and listen to the speeches of the town officials.  After lunch with the family of my husband,  we attended the festivities that the town had organized.

Update Six

Hello!  It's me, Rasoanireny.  My business continues to go well up until now, but after the upcoming national holiday,  our Independence Day, this will be stop for some months because the people will have no more money to buy things other than food.  But happily, I have other businesses.  This year we are going to celebrate this holiday as we do each year.  We get pleasure out of buying the children new clothes and eating good food.

Update Seven

Hello from Ernestine. I am happy that my business is going so well and I was able to make my first loan repayment this month and even have some money left over to keep my business going. I have been able to better manage my finances thanks to the business training that we received from the Masomboly team and I haven't had any difficulties in making the repayment. Hopefully, that will continue.

Update Eight

Ernestine here. I am happy to receive this loan because it has allowed me to buy more materials so that my husband and I can continue our furniture making business. This business has been going very well lately because it is harvest season. With the profits we can cover the costs of our family and even start to save a bit. Thank you for your support and confidence!
